"KE SANA KE SINI KE SUNWAY" REVIEW TO PREPARE YOURSELF TO SUNWAY LAGOON
KE SANA KE SINI KE SUNWAY
The offer was at a limited time and the redemption period was also limited. We had a long discussion about this. Our previous trips to Sunway Lagoon were a blast. Kids were having so much fun, the foods were great and we really spent a good quality of time together; so we were thinking that it is about time for some recharge because ever since the MCO started we haven't bring the kids out for a quick holiday.
We bought the tickets and selected Sunway Resort Hotel. To be honest we have no idea which hotel to book but we further digged into the facilities that both hotels offered:
Sunway Resort Hotel
1) Connected to Sunway Pyramid. Easy access to foods and fun!
2) 2 minutes walking distance to Sunway Lagoon second entrance.
3) The rooms are slightly bigger than Clio.
4) Parking rate is flat at RM12 per day. (during RMCO)
5) No swimming pool. but they provide free ride to Clio Hotel for swimming.
Sunway Clio Hotel
1) Swimming pool facility. (To be honest, we have no time for swimming at all since we have access to Sunway Lagoon!)
2) slightly far to Sunway Lagoon. the location is about 500mtrs to Sunway Lagoon entrance.
3) Room is slightly smaller and limited options.
4) No direct access to the mall.
Update: walking from the Clio Hotel to the mall is actually not that far, very near but it is not attached. If you have older kids, or you guys do not mind walking a couple minutes extra, just go for Sunway Clio Hotel.
Update: From Sunway Clio Hotel to Sunway Lagoon, is also not that far. You guys just have to walk around a corner and you will reach Sunway Lagoon's main entrance. The main entrance is nice, somehow gives you a vacation ambiance. If you are walking from Sunway Resort Hotel, you need to ride a few escalators down to finally reach middle entrance. The middle entrance is boring to be honest, not much attractions and there are few renovation works going on. Once you gets in from the middle entrance, you already missed out a few parks as you will arrive straight at the beach, but can always walk back to those parks, no worries.
Here are some of the Q&A that I have come out to ease your trip to Sunway Lagoon.
1. Q: How do you choose which hotel?
A: We have decided to choose the hotel that is connected to the mall and Sunway Lagoon. We have small children, hence, easier access to these places made our life better to find foods, entertainment and snacks.
2. Q: How much is the parking rate at Sunway Resort Hotel?
A: The parking rate at that time was at RM12 per day. Mind you, normally they have free parking for all their guests but since RMCO, they actually had to charge for parking in order for them to earn some money.
But for us, we live around 30 minutes distanced from Sunway Resort Hotel. Hence, we opted for Grab instead of driving there. Grab is much easier, the driver dropped us all at the lobby and we worry nothing about parking. The fee was more or less about RM15.
3. Q: Is the price exactly RM499 as advertised?
A: Yes, only if you choose the room as advertised. The room advertised was the cheapest in the offer. They also have plenty of other rooms to choose from but with different charges. We chose a room which cost us around RM639 for the whole trip (Still very affordable!). Because this room is much more spacious for us. And we only needed to topup RM140 from the RM499 offer. So it was a deal for us.
Update: I paid exact amount RM639. there were no additional charges upon check out unless you guys ordered anything in-house. Therefore, if you guys choose the RM499 room, that will be the amount to be paid. (This is based on my experienced in July, it may have differ now, depending on the hotel's management)
4. Q: How the hotel deals with RMCO?
A: The hotel was fully in compliance with the SOP. Upon arrival, all of our luggages were sanitized. Temperature of each guests were checked before entering the premise. Guests were asked to use the sanitizer as well. The waiting area in the lobby were distanced to avoid crowd at one place. Fyi, the lobby for Sunway Resort Hotel was huge, hence, no crowd is too crowd. All hotel staffs wore the 3ply masks.
"Do not sit here" signs were placed along the sofa to keep the social distance intact between guests.
5. Q: Is the hotel crowded?
A: We actually went there on a weekday (Tuesday-Thursday). The hotel staff told us that during the weekend, normally Friday to Sunday, their room will be fully booked. The guests checking in on weekdays are a lot lesser hence it gives a whole new comfort knowing that the hotel is not too crowded. We are still Covid conscious people!
6. Q: This deal is inclusive of breakfast?
A: Yes! this deal included breakfast for four. However, their SOP did not allow for buffet breakfast. Therefore they opted for pre-packed meal in a plastic container to be eaten in our own room. During our two nights stay, they actually prepared us the same breakfast everyday. There was an option of, Nasi lemak, western set (bread, omellete and sausage), and porridge. We are allowed to choose on our own. The taste however were too bland and the foods were already cold because there were pre-packed early. I think this was the only drawback of this deal. But, fret not, the mall have plenty more restaurants that suit your taste buds. Even the hotel allows for grabfood and foodpanda. Yeayy!
Prepacked nasi lemak.
Prepacked Nasi lemak and a bowl of porridge. There were selection of orange juice, coffee and tea.
7. Q: Do we need to wear masks in Sunway Lagoon?
A: Upon arrival, yes! but during the swimming and sliding, there is no need to wear the masks.
We masked up at the entrance. took some selfie to kill the time as we reached there early.
8. Q: How often do they sanitize Sunway Lagoon?
A: To be honest, I have no idea! but according to their website, they will sanitize their pool every 2 hours. but I havent really see it myself. Though, I am confident that the chlorine in the water are a good sanitizer already. Before entering the lagoon, all guests must go through the full body sanitizer blow along with our bags.
9. Q: Is the food in Sunway Lagoon affordable?
A: Yes, I would say they were affordable. We have no options anyway since no outside foods are allowed. Make sure you have a budget for foods in Sunway Lagoon. All those water play really made us hungry! We actually spent about RM100 for food for the whole day for the four of us. We bought pizza, nuggets, noodles, ice creams, drinks and more pizza! (their pizza are delish!).
10. Q: What items to bring in Sunway Lagoon?
A: If you are planning to change clothes in sunway lagoon, please bring your own towel, soaps/shampoo, and a set of clean clothes. since we were only a walking distance to our hotel, we didn't even take a shower, just dried up using the towel and went back to hotel for shower.
We prefer a trolley bag. good enough space all four of us and easy to stroll around. Don't bring kid's stroller, it will be a huge burden.
11. Q: Any surau/pray area for muslims?
A: Yes! just below Nickelodeon Lagoon. We actually spent the first 4 hours in Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon. Once, Zuhur started my husband and I went for prayer alternately. Please bring your own prayer mat and telekung! they dont provide any due to Covid. After prayer we went back to have more fun. And we went back to the hotel at 6pm just enough time to perform Asar prayer. I didn't take any photo in the surau because I left my handphone with my husband.
Update: I actually brought two sets of telekung for this trip. I brought one set to sunway lagoon and another I left in the hotel room. Reason is, the one used in Sunway Lagoon all drenched up! so I need a back up.
12. Q: Are we allowed for multiple entry?
A: No! this tickets are only for single entry. Once you went out from Sunway Lagoon, you need to purchase another ticket to go in. Therefore, bring all the things you need and make sure to play hard until they close at 6pm.
Update: These tickets are for all rides and attractions EXCEPT for pay per-ride activities which are BUNGY JUMP, G FORCE X, GO KART AND SCUBA DIVING.
Ticket Price
13. Q: Any locker provided?
A: Lockers are provided but with fees. We didn't use the lockers. We actually brought a small trolley luggage bag with lock on it and a bicycle lock to tie our bags to tables/chair to avoid being stolen. This method is very easy to bring around your stuffs, rather that putting everything in the locker, and need multiple times to unlock to get your wallet, sunscreen and other stuffs that you suddenly needs.
14. Q: How comfortable it is to sleep with 4 people in a hotel room?
A: not so comfortable, the king bed definitely becomes smaller. haha. but we brought along an inflatable single mattress. the one used normally for camping.
15. Q: Do we really get RM200 worth of voucher?
A: Yes! ohhh this is definitely the best offer! we have Tiger Sugar vouchers for two, Ice skating for two, bowling for four, archery for 4, and a croissants vouchers. how awesome is that!
Update: We haven't redeem all the vouchers yet. The best thing is these vouchers can be redeemed by anyone who has the vouchers. You can give to other people if you have no time to use them. We went for the archery for 4pax, The staff said that it is not necessarily that we come 2 adults and 2 kids, we can also come as 4 adults. as long as 4 pax. These vouchers are redeemable until 1st Nov 2020.
Well, that's all I can think about at the moment. This trip is worth it! if you calculate it briefly, you are actually saving a lot of money! ordinary tickets to Sunway Lagoon is RM100+ per head, plus the accomodation fees, the vouchers and foods, this trip would surely costs about RM1.5k!
Toodles for now!
