HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FIRST BORN!
Turning six is a huge thing for me and my little family. I somehow see 6 years old as the last year of being a toddler/a small child before entering standard 1 in the big school. Any mommies in the same boat with me? Please tell me I am not alone!
So long story short, my eldest child just turned 6 a few days ago. We had never let her celebrate her birthday at kindy, but since she will enter Standard 1 next year, we decided to let her have the party. We were kinda noob in this party planning, please forgive us as we were first timers. Googled a few bits and bobs, and came out with a list that makes a good short party for kids. When we say short party, we meant blowing the candle during lunch break in the classroom, not the type that have balloons, playing games and stuffs like that. Just sweet and simple.
The list goes like this:
1) Cake/ Cupcakes/ Doughnuts or any food that can stick candles for the birthday girl to blow.
2) Food for the teachers.
3) Goodies for the children.
and that's all. Really.
We are making this super simple and to be honest we have a very tight budget to begin with. Because we prefer to splurge with the grandparents and families.
For the cake, I did ordered a cake for her to bring to class, but after much discussion, we decided that the cake should be celebrated with atok and nenek instead of at school since my parents were really involved in raising her since she was a baby. And to my surprise, my girl couldn't agree more. So, in exchange, we baked our own cake to bring to school! and obviously it has to be Nestum Butter Cake; the recipe which I had shared earlier in the blog. My girl was ecstatic! She was so excited to bake her own cake. I even allowed her to draw on her cake. She drew a bunny and some flowers. We made two versions, the big one was for the school while the smaller one was for us.
Look at the drawing we made. Can you guys actually see a bunny in the middle? I would say this was a really great activity with a 6 years old. She was beaming with pride and I couldn't be more happier seeing her all excited and proud.
We light up the small cake and sing her a birthday song that night. We chugged down on the cake so easily because it was so tasty! Children really love this kind of buttercake.
The Big one I prepared like this to bring to school. Even bought 6 candles for her to blow.
As for the teachers, I didn't have a second thought on what to bring for them. I have already decided to bring my very own homemade Tauhu Begedil! I have made these earlier in the week and froze them up. That morning after thawing all of them, I fried them just enough to fit the aluminium packaging. These obviously have to be paired with sambal kicap! yummsss.
I woke up very early in the morning, to fry these delicious tauhu begedil. The cake was done the night before, hence it wasn't much of a hassle aneway.
And for the last part, the goodies! oh this one was a little headache. Most parents would go over the top for this, by packing a bag full of candies, chocs, and drinks; sometimes even toys for each kids! ohh yikes, we didn't have enough budget for sure. We were thinking on spending not more than RM2 per kids. Her school have 34 students, well.. do the math. If it cost more, that will be a huge hole in our wallet! After googling and searching, I was torn between two items. One was a hand sanitizer cute bottle RM1 each and a cute luggage tag RM1 each too! Well, thinking that all the kids will be going to standard 1 next year, it would be nice for their bags to have their own names right?? So we decided on the luggage tag. And we ordered a sticker to put on each tags. With all cost added in, the total cost for each luggage tag per kid is only RM1.40. We brought them from shopee weeks earlier to avoid any late delivery.

My girl was the happiest 6 years old on that day. She was very proud of her self-made cake. and she said all of her friends love their luggage tags! yeayyy!
Do you guys remember the cake that we ordered earlier, well, we celebrated with my families a couple of nights later! The cake was made by my dear friend. My girl saw a beautiful Twilight Sparkle cake on instagram and decided that would be her birthday cake. I sent the photo to my friend and asked if she could bake the cake. And she said yes! the decoration will be done by my little girl and my self. My friend will provide the cake some decorations. The edible image of Twilight Sparkle on the other hand, needed to be ordered. So I found an bakery in shopee and ask them to print the image. and they did! yeayyy!

AFTER! So So So CUTE! My daughter was head over heels! She was so happy to be able to decorate her own cake and it look almost the same as the one she wanted! She ate the whole edible image of Twilight Sparkle!
My mom cooked nasi daging which were delishh!! and I cooked butter nestum prawn which are my son's favourite dish. and paired with chicken soup as this was children's all time favourite dish.

Since it was her birthday, I would like to ask for everyone's prayer for abundance of joy, a good long healthy life, prosperity and good wealth. Please pray for our family's happiness through thick and thin, my children's bright future, our stable financial and a stable mental health! Thank you everyone!

Well, we impromptu bought a frozen cake to celebrate with my in laws. I had already shared the celebration in my post earlier about shell out. hiks . I love everyone!
